The validated semantic network. In panel (a) each node represents a different hashtag. We assigned a different color to the six most numerous communities, which are described in the main text, and the remaining nodes are colored black. The dimension of the nodes is proportional to their degree. The panel (b) shows a coarse grained representation of the network of panel (a): hyper-nodes represent the various communities of hashtags and their dimension is proportional to their numerosity. The edges are weighted according to the number of users that shared hashtags from both the connected communities. Both networks are represented using Fruchterman–Reingold layouts
