From: Estimating community feedback effect on topic choice in social media with predictive modeling
Topic trend might be confounders for measuring the community feedback effect on individual users. Activities of two users are depicted: User A changed the post topic due to the global topic trend caused by an external factor (Election); User B changed the post topic due to feedback (Decrease in the number of retweets).
