Three seasonal patterns with three example cases each. Based on the cross-correlations (r) between the seasonal patterns from A to B and from B to A. The classification into the three patterns depends on the significance of r and the degree of (a-)synchronicity (lag in months). The peak ratio allows to get an understanding of the importance of the seasonal component relative to all mobility occurring between the two countries in question. The unambiguous denotation of lags (e.g., “4” instead of “4/6”) is based on the interpretations of the movements with the aid of external information as described in the text.
