Previous sales matter. The relation between the sales of the previous hardcover \({i-1}\) and the sales of the next one, i, by the same author, for (A) fiction and (B) nonfiction. Best selling authors tend to sustain their success with new books, as most dots lie close to the 45 degree line. The outlier books, discussed in the main text, are written by (1) Stieg Larsson, (2) Annie Barrows, (3) Melissa de la Cruz and (4) John Jackson Miller for (A) and (1) Kristin Chenoweth, (2) Kay Robertson, (3) Eric Blehm and (4) Lady Colin Campbell for (B). They are either books written in a different genre from the previous bestselling books of the author, or reissues of old books with a different title
